ONEChurch: One Spirit - 1 Corinthians 12:1-13

Speaker: Ken Boonstra

We have a variety of gifts, given by the Spirit so that we can give expression to our “Christ-life”. These gifts seek the common good. The body of Christ is one unit with many parts, held together by his Spirit.

de – vo – tion: to be set apart, wholly and earnestly, to the service and worship of God.

This week we explore how our devotion to Christ shapes our relationships. We express this devotion in our sung and spoken words.

“Here I am to worship, here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that you’re my God
You’re altogether lovely, although worthy, althogether wonderful to me”

(Here I Am To Worship)

“I will serve the Lord with all my heart
With all my soul, with all my mind
And with all my strength”

(Love the Lord)

The Lord has done great things.
All who take delight in what he has done will spend time thinking about it
(Psalm 111:2)

“He is God, the one true God
There’s no doubt, I’m gonna shout it out”

(He is God)

“I’ll join the thunder and tell of the wonder
That Jesus reigns”

(Jesus Reigns)

“Hallelujah, we sing this anthem of praise
You are holy, you are holy
You are holy, Lord

(Anthem of Praise)

Our devotion to Christ provokes this sung prayer:

“In our households, heavenly Father
Bless the bonds that make us one
May our love reflect your loving
May your will be always done”

And this doxology:

“You are holy, you are holy
You are holy, Lord”

Amen!

ONEChurch - One Accountability - 1 Corinthians 5:1-13

Speaker: Ken Boonstra

Paul teaches about how to hold each other to account for our life in Christ. The church is not an arena for “anything goes”. We are to act true to the purified life we’ve received in Christ.

Prayers of the People

Song of Praise: Glorify Your Name

Ten days after the ascension of Christ and fifty days after his resurrection, the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples on the day of Pentecost, which we observe this Sunday. Our sung and spoken words celebrate the reign of Christ and the gift of the Holy Spirit and reflect our desire to see the Spirit work in our lives and in our church:

“The Lord our Saviour reigns
The God of truth and love
When he had purged our stains
He took his throne above
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice
Rejoice, again I say, Rejoice!”

(Rejoice, the Lord is King)

“Great and mighty is he
Great and mighty is he
Clothed in glory, arrayed in splendor
Great and might is he…
He reigns on high”

(Great and Mighty is He)

“I’m here to meet with you
Come and meet with me…
As I stand and sing your praise
You come, you come and you fill this place”

(Meet With Me)

“Lord make in me a clean heart, light a fire…
In this heart, in this room, in this church light a fire
In this place, Spirit move
Send your pow’r, light a fire”

(Light A Fire)

“With everything we are and everything we have
We pour out our offerings
And if ever we should fail
The rocks will cry out
And crown him the King of Kings”

(Hear All Creation)

“O Breath of Life, come sweeping through us
Revive your church with life and pow’r
O Breath of Life, come cleanse, renew us
And fit your church to meet this hour”

(O Breath of Life)

We close with this simple doxology:

“Father, Jesus, Spirit we adore you
Glorify your name in all the earth”

(Glorify Your Name)

Amen!
