Song of Praise: Salvation Belongs to Our God

“…In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
In the name of the Spirit
Lord we come
We’re gathered together
To lift up your name
To call on our Saviour
To fall on you grace”

We begin our worship with this sung reminder of why we’re gathered together. Our call to worship reminds us that it is God who calls us to come and we respond by affirming he is “…everything we need” and by asking him to “…feed us Lord”. We remember that it is world hunger Sunday and continue with a prayer that reminds us that Christ is our bread. We worship with money gifts given to alleviate poverty, hunger and injustice around the globe through the efforts of the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee.

We continue with a song of praise to our triune God that acknowledges “…you are my hope, my victory”, and we recite this promise from Revelation 21: I am making everything new! – “…praise the Father; praise the Son; Praise the Spirit, three in one”. We continue by singing the Lord’s Prayer (As it is in Heaven) because it reflects our desire to see “…your kingdom come, your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven”.

Acts 13 reminds us, as God’s mission moves forward, there is rejection and confusion and complete confidence in God. Our response: “…Sing praise to God who reigns above – What God’s almighty power has made, in mercy he is keeping – Let all who know his power proclaim aloud the wondrous story – To God all praise and glory”.

Following God’s blessing we close with this doxology, “…praise and glory, wisdom and thanks, honour and power and strength be to our God forever and ever”. Amen!

Song of Praise: Amazing Grace

We begin with a reminder of who Jesus is (“…light of world; king of all days; altogether lovely; altogether worthy) and we affirm, “…here I am to worship; here I am to bow down; here I am to say that you’re my God”. Our Call to Worship reminds us to fix our eyes on the unseen and we remember, through sung words from Psalm 121, “…my help comes from you, maker of heaven, creator of the earth; O how I need you, Lord”.

Psalm 130 says: “I will exalt you, Lord, for you rescued me… O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever”, and we do so with these sung words: “…you are my strength when I am weak”; “…I will always sing of when your love came down”.

Our worship continues with the giving our money gifts and this sung reminder of what God is due: “…from the rising of the sun to the place where it goes down, the name of the Lord is to be praised”.

Following a sermon on the conversion of Saul/Paul from Acts 9 we are reminded that God saves us to do his work in his world and respond: “…take my heart and form it; take my mind, transform it; take my will, conform it – to yours, O Lord”.

We close with a reminder of God’s amazing grace: “…’tis grace hath brought me safe thus far; and grace will lead me home”. Amen.
