Song of Praise: Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty
…in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each members belongs to all the others. Romans 12:5
We open this week with a sung prayer, “…let the glory of the Lord rise among us” and continue with songs that give God glory: “…only thou art holy; there is none beside thee; who wert and art and evermore shall be” – “…blessing and honour, glory and power be unto the Ancient of Days”!
We are called to confession with words from the Song of Songs and respond (in part) with this prayer:
Gather us into one holy union
supplying grace to bridge our divisions.
Show us the trembling birth of oneness
that drives your compassion.
Guide us to the source of all community
and bring us to the fullness of your love…
“…you are the one who gathers us; loving, compassionate God”.
In response to words of assurance we sing, “…praise the Father, praise the Son, praise the Spirit, Three in One; clothed in power and grace; the name above all other names”.
During the giving of our money gifts we acknowledge: “…as we come into your presence we remember every blessing that you’re poured out so freely from above – Lord we’ve come to give you thanks for all you’ve done”.
Following the message, we respond with this sung prayer, “…let our mutual love be glowing brightly so that all may view that we, as on one stem growing, living branches are in you”. After receiving God’s blessing we close with this doxology:
“Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All they works shall praise thy name in earth and sky and sea
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty
God in three persons, blessed Trinity”
Amen
The Acts Challenge: People With A Story - Acts 1; Philippians 1:3-6
Speaker: Ken Boonstra
We begin a new series based on the book of Acts. We will consider the nature of the mission and life of the early church and what that story means for us. Today we reflect on our story.

Song of Praise: Doxology
Acts 2:17&21 – “In the last days”, God says, “I will pour out my Spirit on all people…And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
This Sunday we celebrate the gift of Holy Spirit, beginning with this sung (and spoken) call to worship: “…be still for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One is here”, and the response: “…highest praises, honour and glory be unto Your name”.
We read the story of the Spirit’s coming in Acts 2 and in response to Joel’s prophecy, we affirm “…nothing has the power to save, but Your name”.
Following installation of office bearers we respond with this sung prayer: “…Jesus in Your name we pray; come and fill our hearts today; Lord, give us strength to live for you; and glorify Your name”.
We continue to declare our commitment to Christ both by the giving of our money gifts and with the words “…I’m living everyday for the beauty of the Lord”.
We close the service as we began, with songs of worship that celebrate the gift of the spirit: “…for your gift of God the Spirit, power to make our lives anew; pledge of life and hope of glory; Saviour we would worship you” and:
“Praise to the Spirit, the heavenly wind
Who point us to Jesus and draws us to him
Seal of the Father for all eternity
That’s why we worship, that’s why we sing…
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above ye heavenly host
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.” Amen.
Thanks God it’s Monday! - Colossians 3:22 - 4:1
