Song of Praise: Glory, Honour, Power
“You lived, you died, you said in three days you would rise
You did, you’re alive!
You rule, your reign, you said you’re coming back again
I know that you will
All the earth will sing your praises”
We join all the earth in praising Jesus’ name with this opening song of worship. As a response to what Jesus has done, we continue with a song that expresses our desire to imitate him, “…may the mind of Christ, my Saviour, live in me from day to day; by his love and power controlling, all I do and say”. The scripture readings remind us of exactly what Christ’s love looks like and we response joyfully with this refrain, “…O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer’s praise; the glories of my God and King; the triumphs of his grace”.
Following prayer we continue our worship with the giving of our money gifts and with a song that commits our very lives to the Holy One, “…we fall down, we lay our crowns at the feet of Jesus; the greatness of his mercy and love, at the feet of Jesus; and we cry, holy, holy, holy is the Lamb”.
Philippians 3:10 begins, “I want to know Christ” and together with Paul we say, “…I want to know you (Christ); I want to hear your voice; I want to know you more; I want to touch you; I want to see your face; I want to know you more”.
Following God’s blessing we respond with this doxology, “I will be thankful for all of my days; giving him glory, honour and praise; glory, honour, power forever!” Amen.
